In collaboration with the Plastic Surgery Clinic, we provide intensive care during both conservative and surgical treatment of selected congenital developmental defects. We are part of the Center for the Treatment of Cleft Facial Defects and ensure comprehensive perioperative care for so-called early plastic correction of cleft lip – that is, surgery that takes place directly in the neonatal period and which many parents today prefer.

If a baby is born with a cleft lip or palate, experts from plastic surgery, dentistry, and orthodontics can examine the newborn directly during your stay in the maternity hospital. Usually, within a few days, we will collectively propose the best course of action. If it is appropriate to perform plastic surgery immediately after birth, we will ensure complete care before and after the procedure – we will assist with feeding practice, care, and any potential application of an orthodontic appliance. Care is always individualized and sensitively adapted to your child's needs.
