Characteristics
A specialized pediatric clinic focused on comprehensive care for children with perinatal burden. It ensures follow-up multidisciplinary care after discharge from any maternity hospital. It provides care for children from birth to 2 years of age, after which children are referred to specialist consultations according to their needs.
Focus
children born prematurely, especially before the 32nd week of pregnancy,
children with severe growth restriction,
children from complicated multiple pregnancies.
Care includes
monitoring psychomotor development and proposing early interventions in case of developmental deviations,
assessment of growth and nutritional counseling,
control blood tests after discharge from the maternity hospital,
monitoring comorbidities associated with immaturity,
coordination and connection of care among various specialists.

a few words about the department
Neonatal Department provides comprehensive care for both physiologically normal and premature newborns born from the 32nd week of pregnancy. The goal of our team is to enable the earliest possible return of the whole family home, usually within 48 hours after birth. At the parents' request and in agreement with the pediatrician, discharge is possible even earlier. All newborns are continuously monitored during hospitalization using a breathing monitor. The department is equipped with modern diagnostic methods directly at the child's bedside (e.g., ultrasound, X-ray) and collaborates with a range of specialized specialists. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit also provides care for slightly and moderately premature newborns, including respiratory support and intravenous nutrition. Since 2021, the department has held the status of Perinatal Center for Intermediate Care and is among 12 facilities in the Czech Republic that provide care for both mother and child from the 32nd week of pregnancy.
