Care of a newborn in the ICU
If a newborn needs care in the ICU, we will explain everything to you in detail – the reasons, the treatment plan, and the individual steps. The mother can come to the ICU at any time and actively participate in the care, such as changing diapers, feeding, or kangaroo care.
The presence of parents is extremely important for the child. It supports their recovery, stabilization, and overall well-being. It also has a positive impact on the mother's psyche, allowing her to be in close contact with the baby even in a challenging situation.
Don't hesitate to use kangaroo care – it helps the baby and you. Ask the staff how you can get involved, and request to be present for most examinations or procedures. We strive to ensure that your stay in the ICU respects your needs and those of the child as much as possible.
