Breastfeeding when the baby is separated
Even in situations where the baby cannot be with the mother immediately, we do our utmost to ensure that lactation is maintained and that the child receives breast milk as soon as possible. We support you from the first hours after birth and help establish a regular pumping schedule.
Start pumping ideally within 6 hours of birth and continue regularly 8–10 times a day, including one night session. Regularity is key to ensuring that milk production starts well and is maintained.
Bring described bottles or milk bags and discuss with us how the transport of milk will be handled if you are not in the hospital. We are happy to advise you on storage, handling, and transferring milk to the ICU or department.
We are here to support you in every situation.
