Food and drink during childbirth
During labor, we do not restrict mothers in food or drink if their health condition allows it. Light snacks and plenty of fluids are welcome – they help maintain energy and support the strength needed for the entire labor process.
The supply of energy increases endurance and can help you manage contractions and the pushing phase better. It is crucial for the baby that the mother is in the best possible condition and feels stable.
Pack small snacks in your bag that you tolerate well – for example, dried fruit, nuts, a granola bar, and a bottle of water. It is up to you whether you want to eat or drink during labor; you will decide based on how you feel.
