Bonding after cesarean section
After the baby is equipped, you will meet together immediately. The neonatologist will quickly assess their condition, and if everything is fine, we place the baby directly on your belly or chest. If the health situation does not allow it, the partner can take immediate contact – the baby will thus have "skin-to-skin" contact with one of the parents directly in the delivery room.
Early contact is important even after a cesarean section. It supports the baby's adaptation, stabilizes their breathing and temperature, and increases the chances of early breastfeeding. For the mother, it is also a strong and calming moment that helps establish the first bond.
If "skin-to-skin after cesarean" is important to you, include this in your birth plan. The partner can have a button-up shirt ready so the baby can be placed directly on their skin. Also, expect assisted placement of the baby and do not hesitate to discuss your preferences with the staff – for example, the wish to maintain the "golden hour" without interruption.
